Welcome to Kobus Wines. We're all about small-batch, hand crafted wines that reflect where they came from, pair well with food, and delight the senses.

We made our first wines in 2019, from a family owned vineyard in the Russian River Valley. Our experience with that singular piece of land led to our terroir first philosophy. We believe in low intervention winemaking because it results in the most unique wines, ones that directly translate place and circumstance directly into the glass. To us, this is all that wine should be.

Who We Are

Kobus Wines is run by the dynamic husband and wife duo Astrid Kobus and Stephen "Spesh" Kay, who first crossed paths in San Francisco’s rave scene, where Stephen was spinning records as a DJ. Both have long been surrounded by wine—Stephen’s dad even led the Napa Valley Vintners Association back in the ‘70s. Now, with years of wine knowledge under his belt, Stephen is helping steer the business. Astrid, originally from the Netherlands, became a founding partner of Kobus Wines, stepping in to launch what started as an extension of the family vineyard.
